The EGP 700 million VACSERA serum and sterile-filling plant "Building 60 – EgyVac", a GMP pharmaceutical facility built by Safwa for Contracting.

VACSERA — Serum and Sterile Filling Plant (Building 60, EgyVac)

Overview

Safwa for Contracting built the Serum and Sterile Filling Plant — "Building 60", known as EgyVac — for VACSERA, the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines. The plant, with a total investment of EGP 700 million financed through a UAE grant, was inaugurated by the Minister of Health and Population in the presence of the Ministers of Investment and of the Public Business Sector and the UAE Ambassador to Egypt.

The plant produces life-saving sera — including antivenoms for snake and scorpion bites, tetanus and diphtheria antitoxins — for the local market and for export to the Middle East and Africa.

The building consists of a ground floor and four upper floors. The ground floor is dedicated to service systems: the water and air plant, generators, cold rooms, stores and changing rooms. The first floor holds the main production lines and a second line for sterile filling, designed with complete separation between them to the international GMP standard. The second floor houses the air-handling units for sterile air-conditioning, and the upper floors are reserved for future expansion.
